Dubai: Dubai International Airport (DXB), known as the world’s busiest international airport, made history during this Ramzan by hosting its inaugural iftar on the airport's runway. This unique event aimed to foster connections and celebrate the diverse cultural backgrounds of its employees.

In a video shared on Wednesday, March 20, DXB showcased the preparation for this exceptional iftar. Employees were seen arranging a traditional iftar table on the tarmac, adorned with dates, fruits, sweets, refreshing beverages and authentic Arabic dishes.

As the sun set, the iftar unfolded, providing an opportunity for employees to come together, share stories and strengthen bonds across different departments.

Dubai Airport’s Chief Operating Officer, Majed Al Joker, praised this initiative for its role in promoting inclusivity and cultural understanding within the airport community.

“By creating this inclusive event, we celebrate the values of empathy, compassion, and unity that resonate across all communities, fostering a stronger sense of camaraderie and mutual respect among our team members”, said Majed.

This intimate iftar gathering exemplifies DXB's commitment to providing unique and memorable experiences for travellers. With its continued growth and significance as a global aviation hub, DXB is expected to welcome 88.8 million passengers in 2024, further solidifying its position in the aviation industry.

DXB's initiative to host an iftar on its runway underscores its dedication to inclusivity and unity, reflecting the airport's ethos of connecting people from diverse backgrounds. As DXB continues to grow, it remains steadfast in creating exceptional travel experiences for passengers worldwide.
