President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (Adihex) at the National Exhibition Centre on Wednesday, praising the event's significance in preserving the UAE’s cultural heritage.

Sheikh Mohamed interacted with exhibitors and was briefed on the participation of international companies in the hunting and equestrian industries, as reported by the state news agency Wam.

Sheikh Mohamed emphasized the festival’s role in showcasing the country’s traditions, particularly to the younger generation. He was accompanied by Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed, Chairman of the Office of Development and Martyrs Families Affairs and Chairman of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council.

Adihex, a nine-day event that began on Saturday, features exhibits related to falconry, hunting, equestrian sports, fishing, environmental preservation and culture. Traditionally marking the end of summer and the start of the camping season, the 21st edition of the exhibition includes thousands of brands spread across 11 sectors.

Notable highlights of this year's event include a falcon beauty contest, an Arabian Saluki beauty contest, and competitions for the most beautiful falcon hood and perch. Auctions for camels and top falcon breeds will also be held, continuing a tradition of record-breaking bids.

Last year, a prized falcon was sold for Dh600,000 ($163,380) and in 2022, one bidder paid Dh1.01 million for a Pure Gyr American ultra-white falcon.
