The Professional Fighters League (PFL) has unveiled its highly anticipated "Road to Dubai" championship, marking a significant milestone for the global mixed martial arts (MMA) scene. A series of international MMA events will culminate in the season finale at Dubai's Coca-Cola Arena in City Walk on January 25, 2025.

The Dubai Sports Council, the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), and the PFL have signed a cooperation agreement to bring this event to fruition. The championship will spotlight Dubai's growing reputation as a premier destination for global sports and entertainment.

The headlining fight features the undefeated Usman Nurmagomedov, known as the "Pride of Dagestan," who boasts an impressive 18-0 record as the reigning Bellator Lightweight World Champion. Nurmagomedov will defend his title against Ireland's Paul "Big News" Hughes, coming off a dominant win at PFL’s Battle of the Giants over AJ McKee.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Deputy Prime Minister, highlighted that hosting the PFL Championship reflects the trust of international federations in Dubai as a global sports hub.

The multi-year agreement between the PFL and Dubai also emphasizes talent development, aiming to nurture Emirati athletes and prepare them for international competitions. The PFL, regarded as the fastest-growing MMA league globally, is committed to elevating the sport in Dubai and providing local fighters with opportunities on the world stage.

The "Road to Dubai" championship promises to be a pivotal event, blending elite athleticism with the city’s ambition to cement itself as a leader in the global sports landscape.
