The UAE's National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has announced guidelines to be followed as coronavirus preventive measures on Tuesday.

As a relief to the Muslim community in the country, UAE mosques are permitted to host Taraweeh (special night) prayers with strict Covid safety protocols given that the prayers (Isha prayer and Taraweeh) be concluded within 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, women prayer halls and all gatherings will remain suspended. Authorities have also advised against distributing and exchanging meals between homes and families. Religious lessons and seminars will also be suspended in mosques.

The NCEMA also specifically requested elderly and people with chronic diseases to avoid any sorts of gatherings so as to ensure healthy wellbeing. As the holy month draws closer, the authorities will assess the epidemical status in the country and revise the measures accordingly.

The Arab state has made immense progress in inoculation of its residents. The UAE has administered the Covid19 vaccine to over 50 per cent of the population with the count of 89,746 doses in 24 hours, as of Tuesday.

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Health and Prevention reported 2,018 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of infections to 430,313, while the total recoveries added to 410,736.
