Riyadh to host global medical biotechnology summit under HRH the Crown Prince’s patronage

Researchers, investors, policymakers and industry specialists from around the world will gather in Riyadh next week to examine how medical biotechnology can improve healthcare and create new economic opportunities.
The fourth Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit will open on Monday, September 14, and continue until September 16.
The event will be held under the patronage of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Prime Minister and chairman of the Riyadh Biocentral Foundation’s board of directors.
Prince Abdullah bin Bandar, Minister of National Guard and a board member of the Riyadh Biocentral Foundation, will inaugurate the summit.
The program will bring together leading experts, researchers, innovators, investors and policymakers to discuss recent developments in medical biotechnology and the sector’s future prospects.
The Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs said the Crown Prince’s patronage reflected the leadership’s support for medical biotechnology and the summit’s role in raising Saudi Arabia’s profile in international innovation.
The event will present advances in medical biotechnology research and development within Saudi Arabia and seek to create further opportunities for international co-operation and specialised partnerships.
It is organised by the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs, King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences and the King Abdullah International Medical Research Centre, in partnership with the Ministry of Investment.
The summit seeks to establish Riyadh as a centre for medical biotechnology by presenting new technologies and research and identifying investment opportunities.
It will also connect scientific experts and research institutions with international companies while highlighting co-ordination between government sectors.
Organisers said these efforts were intended to support the biotechnology sector’s growth and increase its economic and healthcare contribution, in line with the National Biotechnology Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030.
