text_fieldsThe Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority has signed a cooperation agreement with the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) to strengthen safety and civil protection in the emirate.
The agreement focuses on integrating artificial intelligence into operations, developing joint strategies, training specialised national talent and creating a long-term sustainable safety system.
It was signed by Brigadier General Salem Abdullah bin Barak Al Dhaheri, Director General of the Civil Defence Authority and Shihab Issa Abu Shihab, Director General of ATRC.
According to Brig Gen Al Dhaheri, the partnership is a milestone in improving prevention tools and safety technologies. He said adopting AI reflects the authority’s plan to keep pace with global developments while enhancing readiness to handle diverse challenges.
Abu Shihab said the cooperation will use research and development to address Abu Dhabi’s strategic priorities. He noted it will help turn advanced technologies into solutions that improve community safety and protection.
Both sides agreed on the need to invest in technology and knowledge to build a smart civil defence system that adapts to change, reduces risks and ensures high operational efficiency.
The agreement covers the development of innovative projects and AI-based solutions to address current and future safety challenges. The aim is to create a flexible system that protects lives, secures property, and improves quality of life.
It aligns with the Civil Defence Authority’s plan to set a model for integrating smart technology into civil protection and with ATRC’s role in advancing the security and defence ecosystem through applied research.
