US President Donald Trump on Monday threatened to attack Oman if it interferes with US efforts in the ongoing conflict with Iran over the Strait of Hormuz.

“If Oman gets in the way, we’ll bomb the s*** out of them,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News.

His comments came as Iranian diplomats have been holding talks with Omani officials over a possible arrangement for managing shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway that has emerged as a major flashpoint in the conflict.

Trump also called on Iran to “put up the white flag of surrender”, according to Fox News journalist Trey Yingst, who posted details of the interview on X.

“They’re good poker players, but they’re dying,” Trump was quoted as saying. He added that he had “no time schedule” for the US approach and was “not in a hurry”.

Trump also said the US midterm elections had no bearing on his decisions.

In a separate post on Truth Social, Trump said preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons remained the US’s primary objective.

“The number one Goal is, and always will be, that Iran cannot have, in any way, shape, or form, a Nuclear Weapon,” he wrote.

The remarks come as the deadline for a 60-day ceasefire between the US and Iran approaches. Talks over the management of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz have gained importance as the two sides negotiate arrangements for the strategically important waterway.
