London: Saudi student clubs in the United Kingdom have come together to organize a series of Qur’an recitation competitions throughout the holy month of Ramadan. The aim of these competitions, alongside various other activities arranged by the clubs, is to foster stronger spiritual and cultural bonds among Saudi scholarship students residing in Britain.

With a total of 21 clubs under the supervision of the Saudi Cultural Bureau, these events are designed to promote unity and solidarity within the Saudi student community in the UK. The competitions serve as a platform for participants to showcase their Quranic recitation skills while also celebrating their shared cultural heritage.

The competitions have received participation from members of 21 different Saudi student clubs operating across various universities in the UK. These clubs play a crucial role in supporting Saudi students during their academic journey abroad and facilitating cultural exchange initiatives.

To accommodate a wider pool of participants, the competitions are being held remotely, allowing students from different parts of the UK to take part without geographical constraints. The format includes qualifying heats, wherein five individuals from each group will advance to the final stage.

A dedicated judging committee comprising Qur’an memorizers and certified individuals in memorization has been appointed to assess the participants. Criteria for evaluation include intonation, fluency and overall performance quality, with an emphasis on professionalism and adherence to proper recitation techniques.

The initial stage of qualifiers commenced last weekend, with separate days allocated for women and children on Saturday, followed by men on Sunday. Participants showcased their proficiency in Quranic recitation, vying for a coveted spot in the final stage, the date of which will be disclosed in due course.

The organizers meticulously planned the schedule to accommodate the diverse demographics within the Saudi student community.

Beyond the realm of competition, the organizers aspire to instil a deeper appreciation for the Holy Qur’an among Saudi scholarship students in the UK.

The competitions exemplify the spirit of unity, cultural preservation and spiritual enrichment.
