Saudi inventor wins two gold medals at Kuwait invention fair

Saudi inventor Duaa Nizar Khudry secured two gold medals at the 16th International Invention Fair in the Middle East, held in Kuwait from February 8 to 11, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Khudry was recognised for developing a device that filters materials and enables the recycling of used liquids. The invention is designed to improve efficiency in liquid purification and reuse, with applications in environmental protection, industrial processing and water conservation.
She received one gold medal from the organisers of the fair and was also awarded the IFIA Best Invention Award by the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations, which honours outstanding innovations presented at the exhibition.
Khudry participated in the event as a member of the Mawhiba Alumni Program and represented Saudi Arabia with the support and nomination of the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity, known as Mawhiba. The foundation was taking part in the fair for the third time.
The International Invention Fair in the Middle East has been organised annually by the Kuwait Science Club since 2007. It is considered one of the region’s largest specialised exhibitions for inventors and serves as a platform for showcasing innovations to an international audience.
Khudry first gained national recognition for the same recycling device in 2013, when she won first place at the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity (Ibdaa), competing against thousands of students across Saudi Arabia. She later secured an official patent for the invention in 2024.
