The Saudi Food and Drug Authority on Tuesday cautioned consumers against using selected infant formula products manufactured by Nestlé, following a voluntary recall initiated by the company over potential safety concerns.

According to the authority, the warning applies to products sold under the Nan, Alfamino, S-26 Gold and S-26 Ultima brand names. The products may be affected by possible contamination with cereulide, a toxin associated with the Bacillus cereus bacterium, which can present health risks to infants. The information was reported by the Saudi Press Agency.

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority stressed that the recall is being carried out as a precautionary step and confirmed that no cases of illness linked to the products have been identified to date. It noted that symptoms potentially associated with exposure include nausea, repeated vomiting and abdominal pain.

Consumers were instructed to discard any affected products immediately. The authority added that it is working closely with Nestlé to ensure the recalled items are withdrawn from retail outlets and that the removal process is being closely monitored.

Details of the specific products involved, including batch numbers, have been published on the Saudi Food and Drug Authority’s official website. The organization also urged the public to report any food safety issues through its hotline at 19999.
