Saudi business leader and philanthropist Abdul Rahman Al Attas dies at 46

Riyadh: Abdul Rahman bin Muhsin Al Attas, who was active in Saudi Arabia’s social and business sectors, has passed away. He held senior positions in real estate and major retail groups and was known among expatriates for his calm nature and charitable work.

He spent his childhood in Paris with his father, who was involved in trade, and later completed his higher education in the United States. Al Attas began his career with Madain Star Real Estate and later served as General Manager for about ten years at Western International Group (Nesto, Brand Zone, Day to Day). For the past four years, he had been working as Deputy General Manager at Riyadh Villas Contracting Company.

Al Attas showed a special interest in Malayalis and Indians and worked consistently for the welfare of the expatriate community. During a visit to Kerala two years ago, he met and held discussions with representatives of ‘Madhyamam’ and ‘MediaOne’. People widely remember his support for educational and social initiatives.

He is survived by his wife Bushra and daughter Sara Al Bin Attas. Business leaders, social workers and others from different sectors have expressed their condolences.
