Saudi Arabia has shot down at least 439 drones and 36 ballistic and cruise missiles since Iran began retaliatory attacks following the February 28 US-Israeli strike on Tehran, according to figures based on official defence statements.

Data drawn from Saudi Defense Ministry announcements and reports carried by the Saudi Press Agency indicate that air defence units have been responding to successive waves of aerial threats for nearly three weeks.

A large share of the drones, about 278, were directed toward the Eastern Province, where key oil refining facilities are located. Others targeted Shaybah, a major oilfield in the Empty Quarter. Most missile launches were aimed at Al-Kharj, southeast of Riyadh, near Prince Sultan Air Base.

The cross-border exchanges have extended beyond Saudi territory. Across the Gulf, additional projectiles have been launched at neighbouring states.
