Saudi air defences shot down five hostile drones near Prince Sultan Air Base on Monday, according to the Ministry of Defence.

Spokesman Major General Turki Al-Maliki said the aerial targets were intercepted and destroyed before reaching their intended objectives.

In a separate incident earlier, two drones heading toward the Ras Tanura oil refinery near Dammam were also brought down. Debris from the interception caused a small fire inside the refinery complex, which authorities said was quickly contained.

No civilian casualties were reported in either incident, the Saudi Press Agency said.
