The Muslim World League (MWL) has launched a series of major Qur’anic initiatives at its headquarters in Makkah, aiming to enhance global access to digital Qur’an recitation and education.

The initiatives were inaugurated by MWL Secretary-General Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, according to the Saudi Press Agency. They include the launch of the First Coordination Forum for Global Qur’anic Digital Maqari, the Digital Portal for the Global Electronic Maqra’a and the establishment of the League of Global Qur’anic Digital Maqari.

Dr. Al-Issa said that these efforts are aligned with the MWL’s mission to promote unity in the Islamic world and to serve the Holy Qur’an through innovation and collaboration. He noted that digital transformation in religious education is key to strengthening global engagement with the Qur’anic tradition.

During the forum, several key recommendations were issued. One of the most notable was the proposal to create an international technical Qur’an recitation association. This body, to be affiliated with the MWL, would focus on standardizing and overseeing technical aspects of digital Qur’anic recitation and training.
