Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has appointed Adel Al-Jubeir as the climate affairs envoy through royal decree on Sunday, Arab News reported, citing Saudi Press Agency.

Al-Jubeir, who is the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, will continue holding the office and his membership in the Council of Ministers.

Meanwhile, the Kingdom appointed Abdulrahman bin Ahmed bin Hamdan Al-Harbi as its ambassador to China. Abdulrahman got relieved of his last position as the governor of the General Authority for Foreign Trade. Also, Dr Najem bin Abdulla Al-Zaid got appointed as the Deputy Minister of Justice.

More appointments were made through a series of decrees on Sunday. When Abdul Rahman bin Suleiman Al-Siyari got appointed as a member of the Shoura Council, Maj. Gen. Mohammed Al-Bassami got promoted to Lieutenant-General rank in addition to getting appointed as director of the General Directorate of Public Security. Maj. Gen. Nayef bin Majid bin Saud also got promoted to Lieutenant-General.

Further, Ahmed bin Abdulaziz bin Ibrahim Al-Issa became the new director of the General Directorate of Investigation, Abdulrahman bin Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Kanhal and Hamood bin Badah Al-Muraikhi got appointed as advisors at the Royal Court, and Tariq bin Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al-Faris was made an advisor to the Secretariat of the Council of Ministers.

Relieving from a position of assistant to the Saudi commerce minister, Badr bin Abdul Mohsen bin Abdullah bin Hadab got appointed as assistant to the Bureau of Experts at the Council of Ministers, while Khalid bin Muhammad bin Abdul Rahman Al-Salem became chairman of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu.

Fahad Al-Jalajel was posted as chairman of the board of directors at the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, which was held earlier by Dr Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah.
