The Ministry of Defence announced the move following a ministerial decision issued by Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs.
Under the new rules, applicants must be at least 18 years old and either be born in Qatar or be the child of a Qatari mother.
Candidates are also required to have a good conduct record and must not have been convicted of crimes involving dishonesty or breach of trust unless they have been legally rehabilitated.
Additional conditions include medical fitness, successful completion of the admission interview, possession of a valid Qatari residence permit and no previous dismissal from service.
The ministry said the decision is aimed at broadening participation in National Service and creating opportunities for a larger group of eligible residents.
Applications can be submitted through the Ministry of Defence website under the recruitment section.
Required documents include a copy of the applicant’s Qatari ID card, passport and birth certificate. Children of Qatari mothers must also provide a copy of their mother’s passport along with their birth certificate.
