Pro-Palestinian protesters block Netanyahu motorcade during Washington visit

Washington: Pro-Palestinian protesters demonstrated against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his visit to Washington, blocking his motorcade, waving Palestinian flags and demanding his arrest.
Protesters called Netanyahu a "war criminal" and said US taxpayer money should not be used to protect him. They also urged the United States to act on the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court.
Netanyahu's visit included a meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House. It was their first meeting since Trump halted joint military action against Iran and their eighth since the start of Trump's second term.
The meeting took place as both leaders faced domestic political challenges. According to the report, differences have also emerged over key regional issues.
The report said Trump's willingness to sell F-35 fighter jets to Turkey, despite Israeli concerns, and his decision to sign a civilian nuclear agreement with Saudi Arabia without making normalisation of ties with Israel a precondition have put Netanyahu under pressure.
With Israel expected to hold Knesset elections by the end of October and the United States due to hold midterm elections soon after, the report said the two leaders are pursuing different political priorities. It said Netanyahu is seeking stronger military action against Iran, while Trump is focused on reducing inflation and pursuing a diplomatic resolution to the regional crisis.
