Shooting incident in Oman’s Wadi Al Kabir leaves four dead
text_fieldsThe Royal Oman Police (ROP) issued a statement on Tuesday regarding a shooting incident in the Wadi Al Kabir area near a mosque, resulting in four deaths and multiple injuries. The ROP confirmed that all security measures and procedures have been implemented and evidence collection for the investigation is ongoing.
The ROP expressed condolences to the families of the deceased, asking Allah Almighty to grant them patience and solace and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
Following the incident, the U.S. embassy in Muscat advised U.S. citizens in Oman to remain vigilant, monitor local news and follow local authorities' directions. The embassy cancelled visa appointments for the day.
Pakistan's Ambassador to Oman, Imran Ali, also advised Pakistani citizens to stay safe and avoid the Wadi Al Kabir area. In a social media message, Ambassador Ali assured that the injured are recovering well in hospitals and strongly advised against travelling to the area.
In a video statement, Ambassador Ali praised the efforts of Omani security forces in managing the situation. "We request all Pakistanis living in Oman to cooperate with the local administration," he said.
He also said that emergency phone numbers have been circulated to help Pakistani community in hospitals.
