Muscat: The Embassy of India in Muscat, in collaboration with the Indian School Muscat, celebrated the 10th International Day of Yoga with a major event attended by 2,000 participants.

Attendees included Indian nationals, Omani citizens, resident Ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps and students from Indian Schools.

This year's theme, "Yoga for Self and Society," emphasized yoga's impact on personal well-being and societal harmony. The event featured a common Yoga Protocol, promoting unity of mind, body and soul and fostering a sense of togetherness within the community.

H.E. Amit Narang, Ambassador of India to Oman, delivered the keynote address, stating, "Yoga not only enhances personal health and well-being but also strengthens the social fabric by promoting unity and harmony." He thanked participants, yoga organizations, sponsors and volunteers for their contributions to the event's success.

In April 2024, the Embassy launched the "Marhaban Yoga: Health, Harmony and Healing" initiative, conducting over 30 yoga events across Oman. These sessions, aimed at all age groups, focused on health, harmony, healing, peace, mindfulness and well-being.

A flagship event in Salalah, part of the Marhaban Yoga initiative, drew over 300 participants, including Omani dignitaries. H.E. Jamal al-Moosawi, Secretary General of the National Museum of Oman, attended as the Guest of Honor.

These events build on previous initiatives like the Oman Yoga Yatra in 2022 and the Muscat Yog Mahotsav in 2023, reflecting the growing popularity of yoga in Oman. Yoga continues to attract a wide range of practitioners, offering benefits for physical health, mental clarity and emotional stability.
