Relief for Kuwait-bound fliers; foreign airlines resume services

Kuwait City: Thousands of travellers, including a large number of expatriates from Kerala, are set to benefit as foreign airlines prepare to resume services to and from Kuwait after a temporary disruption caused by regional security concerns.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has announced the gradual restoration of operations by international carriers from Terminal 4 of Kuwait International Airport. The move comes after foreign airline services were suspended when Terminal 1, the primary hub for many international operators, was affected and subsequently closed following damage linked to the recent Iranian attack.

With the reopening of services from Terminal 4, authorities are taking steps to restore connectivity and ease travel difficulties faced by passengers over the past several days. In the initial phase, a limited number of Gulf, Arab and other international carriers will restart flights while aviation officials continue coordinating with airlines to finalise schedules and operational arrangements.

The development is particularly encouraging for travellers from India, especially those from Kerala, as indications suggest that services, including those operated by Air India Express, could return as early as next week. The expected resumption is likely to provide much-needed travel options for both residents and expatriates who have been dealing with reduced flight availability.

Officials have stated that the decision is aimed at expanding travel choices and meeting growing passenger demand during the disruption. Travellers have been advised to stay informed about flight schedules and verify the latest updates with their respective airlines before heading to the airport.

At present, Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways remain the primary operators serving Kuwait, making the return of foreign carriers a significant relief for passengers.
