Bahrainis and residents can now access their Covid Vaccine Passport in the BeAware app. The Kingdom of Bahrain has become one of the first countries in the world to launch such an initiative.

The app will provide an official vaccination certificate and shows green for users after two weeks of receiving two Covid jabs. It displays users' immunity status and other details such as name, date of birth, nationality and the vaccine received. The validity of users can be confirmed by the authorities through a QR code scanning linked to a national vaccine register.

Bahrain had offered free vaccination to all residing in the country, last month including all the approved vaccines such as Sinopharm, Sputnik V, Pfizer-BioNTech and AstraZeneca vaccines. The gulf state has also imposed strict restrictions for few weeks such as suspending prayers and religious events at mosques, permitting 70% of employees of government or related institutions to remote work and shifting all educational institutions to distance learning to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Denmark and Sweden are expected to launch the digital passport service soon.
