Love rejected: Andhra man pours acid on woman on Valentine's Day

Hyderabad: In a horrifying incident on Valentine's Day, Friday the 14th of February, a man brutally attacked a woman with acid as well as a knife after she rejected his love proposal in Andhra Pradesh’s Annamayya district. According to reports, the accused assailant, Ganesh, had made similar appeals to the woman, Gouthami, in the past, but she rejected him. Ganesh repeated the same even after Gouthami got engaged to someone, and their marriage was scheduled for April 29. On Friday, he also repeated the same thing before committing the devilish act.
The accused is a resident of Ammacheruvu Mitta in Madanapalle, and Gouthami is from Gurramkonda Pyarampalle. Eyewitness informed that Ganesh attacked Gouthami with a knife before throwing acid at her face. A gravely injured Gouthami was rushed to hospital for urgent medical attention by the local residents, The Hans India reported.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident, registered a case and started gathering evidence from the crime scene. The Hans India reported that the woman’s parents were devasted and expressed their profound sorrow over the attack.
