More than one million people have been vaccinated in India in the first five days of the inoculation program that began on January 16th.

Based on the inoculation data of countries placed in the public domain, India is the fastest country to have deployed these many doses of vaccines in such a short period. According to the health ministry, about 1.3 million (12.7 lakhs) people have been vaccinated in five days.

India also reported the highest number of vaccine administrations in a day when 200,000 people were vaccinated on day one of the inoculation program. Before India, the fastest country in its rollout of having achieved one million doses in ten days was the US.

India, while keeping track of the domestic requirement of vaccines, is also sending vaccine shots to partner countries in phases.

About 57 million people have been vaccinated in the world by now and India occupies the 10th position in terms of the total number of people vaccinated in each country. The US and China are in the first and second position with successful vaccination of 17 million and 15 million people, respectively.
