Uni of Birmingham offers £1 mn worth scholarship for Indian students

New Delhi: The University of Birmingham (UoB) announced a range of scholarships worth more than £1 million for Indian students on Wednesday, aiming to back them with strong academic and extracurricular records to study in the university, reports The Indian Express.

The scholarships are offered to both undergraduate and postgraduate student and are categorised into merit-based and automatic awards for specific academic fields. The said fields include Business, Computer Science, Arts, Law, Environmental & amp Physical Sciences, Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences.

Member of the prestigious Russell Group of UK universities, UoB is ranked among the top 100 universities in the world.

According to Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International), UoB, Professor Robin Mason, the announced scholarships demonstrate the importance of Indian students in the global student community. It is also their commitment to India as a strategic partner, he said.

He said that UoB is a global civic university which has a long, illustrious relationship with India. He welcomed the next batch of Indian students to their historic campus.

In the UK, it is the Indian students that contribute to the largest the student community and up to June 2023, Indians received nearly 1,43,000 study visas.

The list of scholarships goes like this. Twenty awards outstanding achievement scholarships for undergraduate students of £4,000 each, 15 awards of India Chancellor Scholarship for postgraduate students of £2,000 each and unlimited automatic scholarships of £2,000 each under the Global Masters Scholarships scheme. There are more scholarships announced specifically announced for Indians.
