Following the release of CBSE board exam dates, several parties including the Council of CBSE Schools Kerala (CCSK), Muslim organisations and Madurai MP Su Venkatesan have urged the board to reschedule the exams on May 13th and 15th. As per the holidays declared by the Centre, Eid-ul-Fitr shall fall on May 14th. In Kerala, May 13th is also a public holiday on account of the festival.

As per current schedule, Class ten students have Physics and Applied Physics slated for the 13th while Class twelve students shall have Malayalam and French exams. "But the date of Ramzan may change depending on the sighting of the crescent. So there is a possibility of change of date by a day earlier or later than the date that has been fixed," Su Venkatesan wrote in a representation to Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank. CCSK also raised similar demands that the dates be shifted to ensure that Muslim students will not be affected.
