CBSE with new IT system to tabulate 10,12 results
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is developing an IT system to tabulate Class 12th results so that the calculation work and time it takes could be reduced, a top official said on Friday. The board had earlier cancelled the 10th and 12th exams and replaced them with an alternative policy to assess both classes due to the ongoing second wave of COVID-19.
"Regarding the tabulation of marks for class 12, the CBSE has decided to assist the result committee and schools in preparation of result," said CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj. "Accordingly, an IT system is being developed in-house which will be made available to all the concerned schools sponsoring students for class 12 for calculation of results," he added.
He said that the system would prepopulate marks of Class 10 students who passed from CBSE. Also, efforts will be made to take other boards' class 10 data, he added. CBSE will keep regular communication with schools to ensure results are prepared without issues. It will establish a help desk to assist the schools in preparing results for both the 10th and 12th from the following week, he added.
According to Bharadwaj, a 13-member panel was appointed by CBSE to devise a formula for evaluation. For 12th, the panel's theory paper evaluation formula is 30 per cent weightage to Class 10th marks, 30 per cent weightage to Class 11th marks, and 40 per cent weightage to Class 12th marks obtained in unit test/mid-term/pre-board exams.
For Class 10th, 30 per cent marks based on the average component of the best three performing subjects out of the main five will be taken. Twenty marks for each subject will be for internal assessment as it used to be. Eighty marks will be calculated based on the student's performance in various tests or exams throughout the year.
CBSE put June 30 as the deadline for schools to submit Class 10th marks and July 15 for Class 12th.
