New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the date sheet for the second phase of Class 10 board examinations, scheduled to be held from May 15 to May 21, offering students an additional opportunity to improve their scores.

From this academic year, CBSE has introduced a system of conducting Class 10 board exams twice annually. However, appearing for the second phase remains optional and is intended for students who wish to enhance their performance in the main examination.

According to the schedule, most exams will be conducted from 10.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m., while a few subjects will conclude at 12.30 p.m. The examinations will commence on May 15 with Mathematics (Standard and Basic), followed by English (Communicative and Language & Literature) on May 16. The Science paper is slated for May 18, and Social Science will be held on May 21.

Language papers, including Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Malayalam, and Assamese, among others, are scheduled for May 19. On May 20, students will appear for subjects such as Painting, Sanskrit, Information Technology, and Artificial Intelligence. Examinations for foreign languages, Home Science, Retail, and Tourism will also be conducted as per the prescribed schedule.

The dual-exam system enables students to attempt the board exams twice within the same academic year, allowing them to improve their marks if required. The Board has advised students to complete their preparations in advance, report to examination centres on time, and carry their admit cards, which are mandatory.

The results of the first phase of the Class 10 board examinations were declared recently. As per CBSE data, 55,368 students secured 95 per cent or above, accounting for 2.24 per cent of candidates. Meanwhile, 2,21,574 students scored 90 per cent or above, representing approximately 8.96 per cent of successful candidates.

In 2026, a total of 24,83,479 students registered for the Class 10 examinations, of whom 24,71,777 appeared. Out of these, 23,16,008 students passed, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 93.70 per cent — a marginal increase of 0.04 per cent compared to last year’s 93.66 per cent, indicating a stable and positive performance trend.
