Kozhikode: Dubai based KEF holding is all set to excite the north Malabar city by setting up the first international health retreat here. Shelling out 800 crore, KEF holding's venture will see 30 acres of organic farm, state-of-the-art 130 rooms, employing over 400 people here. The retreat is now rising up in Chelebra, just a stone's throw away from the city.

The whopping 800 crore venture, according to KEF chairman Faisal Kotikolan, will benefit both Kerala's health and tourism sector alike. "Quite unlike the holistic health styles that Kerala knows, the new venture will ensure international standard integrating Ayurveda, naturopathy, and Tibetan healing treatments, alongside being supported by doctors at Maitra hospital with modern treatments," he said.

The first phase of the project has been completed and the second phase will begin in March before going fully operational in March 2023. "The set-up will ensure the integrated healing for inmates; it is all the more essential given the ravages of COVID-19 on health. As many as 100 foreigners are expected a day," Faisal added.

The health retreat will go completely green, depending on solar energy, raising the building using expandable polystyrene panels, alongside harvesting rainwater in one-crore capacity receptacle, as well as protecting water channels of the area using modern technology. The rest of the stored one-crore litters of water will be used for watering the farm. "Organic farm has already gone operational, with the produce being sold in the local market. Once the retreat goes functional, the produce will go to the retreat's kitchen," according to Faisal. All healing treatments aim at protection of mind, body and soul. Everything from actions, thoughts, emotions influence our wellbeing, thus maintaining healthy body and mind is essential today, " said Shabana Faisal, Vice chairperson, KEF holdings.

The venture will create 400 jobs in health care, he added, saying, " My efforts are aimed at experimenting both health and education sectors. As part of this, I introduced modern facilities in education in the case of Nadakav school, as well as setting up a leading health care facility in Malabar. The venture will also pursue the same goals," Faisal said.
