Kozhikode: Writer and activist Sara Joseph came down on Suresh Gopi for assaulting journalists who asked him about sexual assault allegations against actor and MLA Mukesh. Sara Joseph wrote on Facebook that attacking journalists is the same as attacking people. She also asked under what authority the representatives of the people are stopping the media and journalists.

"Under what authority can the representatives of the people stop the media workers? In a democratic system, the media has the same status as the representatives of the people. The media should speak for the people. So they have to ask questions. It is a continuous process. People's representatives should remember that if the media is behind you, it means that the people are behind you. So, if you believe that the media should sing praises, it is not going to happen. Attacking journalists is the same as attacking people. What people representatives must have is a tail, not horns or tusks. The constitution envisages that they are people's servants," Sarah Joseph wrote on Facebook in Malayalam.
