Thrissur: Complaints have been received that advertising companies, contractors and printing companies that campaigned for BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Kerala's Thrissur did not receive any money. The contractors approached the district and central leaders several times but did not receive the amount and asked the central and state leaders to take action.

In the Lok Sabha elections, the central leadership had paid a huge sum of money to Kerala. In Thrissur, where veteran Malayalam film actor Suresh Gopi contested, the BJP central leadership had allocated money directly. The RSS and BJP had even appointed representatives to look into the cost.

However, when the leaders are saying that he had a debt of around Rs 80 lakh at that time, the leaders close to him said that post-election result announcement, Suresh Gopi returned after setting everyone's debts. It is said that the last payment was made at a private hotel owned by a BJP leader, including Rs 3.5 lakh.

However, the contractors have complained to the leadership that they are owed around Rs 30 lakh for the material, including the boards. It is learned that Suresh Gopi was also informed about the incident on Sunday.

The fundraising for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Thrissur had caused a great deal of controversy in the party. The state officials were in the shadow of the allegations at the time.

The new allegations comes just after a BJP leader has been accused of defrauding the state government of crores of rupees on a prominent property of Devaswom in Thrissur.
