Man dies by suicide after setting house on fire in Kollam

Kollam: A man died by suicide after allegedly setting his house on fire in Anchal, Kollam, Kerala, on Sunday night, police reported on Monday. The deceased, identified as 56-year-old Vinod from Alanchery, reportedly turned on a gas cylinder and ignited flames inside his home following a quarrel with his wife and others.
Vinod’s family members managed to escape the fire, but the house was completely destroyed by the flames and a subsequent explosion. Local residents, who noticed the fire, immediately alerted authorities. Police believe that Vinod may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
Vinod’s body was recovered and has been sent to a nearby government hospital for a postmortem examination. The Yeroor police have initiated an investigation into the tragic event.
