Kochi: The Kerala Crime Branch, that is investigating the 2017 actor assault case in which actor Dileep is accused, has the Kerala High Court order extending the probe time to 15 days more so that it could collect more electronic evidence to strengthen the case.

The Police have been instructed to finish the probe and submit the report with evidence by July 15.

The Kerala police believe that seeking more evidence from the electronic devices will help in gaining more clarity to support the claims of the prosecution. This investigation was requested following the statement of director Balachandra Kumar, who used to be Dileep's friend. The director disclosed that Dileep had possessed the visual contents of the assault.

The contents of the memory card were viewed twice according to the latest forensic investigation update.

Since it takes time to dissociate digital information, the crime branch requested more time for investigation. At the same time, Dileep's advocate Raman Pillai opposed the plea of the police, stating that all the required documents are already submitted.

On the other hand, TB Mini, the survivor's advocate submitted a petition saying that the contents of the memory card which includes the visuals from the sexual assault were leaked from the Ernakulum sessions court.

Ten people, including actor Dileep, are accused in the case. The victim who has worked for most of the South-Indian film industries was molested in her car by a few of the accused on the way home on 2017, February 17.
