Thiruvananthapuram: In the case of the recent mass murder of five in Venjaramoodu here in Kerala, the medical report of the accused, Afan, has been handed over to the police. The examination report conducted by a psychiatrist at the Medical College says that the accused has no mental issues and added that the massacre of his own family, as well as the developments that followed, did affect Afan’s mental condition.

Although the results of the blood sample tests are not out, the doctors informed the investigation team that no use of intoxicants, including drugs, except for alcohol was found.

Afan had intended to kill an uncle who did not help him financially, but he abandoned it at the last minute. After killing his grandmother Salma Beevi, paternal uncle Latif, Latif's wife Shaheedah, girlfriend Farzana, younger brother Afsan and mother Shemi, the plan was to go to Thatthmala and kill two more people. However, he abandoned the plan and reached the Venjaramoodu police station in an autorickshaw to surrender.

Afan, who is currently in the medical cell of the Medical College Hospital, is likely to be shifted to jail on Monday. This was after doctors had informed us that the accused's health condition was satisfactory. The magistrate had met Afan at the hospital and remanded him. An arrest has been registered only in the case registered by the Pangod police in the murder of grandmother Salma Beevi. The Venjaramoodu Police will register cases and arrests in the other four cases on Monday.
