Kerala HC quashes government's ban on plastic carry bags

According to Justice N Nagaresh, only the central government has the power to issue a ban in this case; the state does not have the authority. Therefore, the court ruled that the government's action does not stand legally.

Kochi: The Kerala High Court struck down the state government's ban on plastic carry bags. The ban imposed by the state government on plastic bags below 60 gsm has been lifted.

According to Justice N Nagaresh, only the central government has the power to issue a ban in this case; the state does not have the authority. Therefore, the court ruled that the government's action does not stand legally.
