Thiruvananthapuram: A civil police officer in Kerala was taken into custody by the state excise department on Saturday for involving in MDMA and marijuana supplying, IANS reported.

MJ Shahnawaz, the mentioned officer of Idukki Armed Reserve Police Camp, got caught after the excise officials initiated surveillance following a tip-off. The information was that some policemen were involved in the drug movement, and a probe was needed on them.

Shahnawaz was caught red-handed while supplying the banned substances to a buyer.

The hilly district of Idukki borders Tamil Nadu with several roads leading to the neighbouring state, which are believed to be used by drug smugglers.
