Thiruvananthapuram: Updates from Thiruvananthapuram constituency show BJP's Rajeev Chandrasekhar leading by more than 8,000 outwitting senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor.

The constituency gained national attention after Rajeev Chandrasekhar chose to contest here to take on Shashi Tharoor who was seeking re-election for the fourth time.

Exit polls suggested Chandrasekhar will defeat Tharoor. LDF candidate Pannyan Raveedran is trailing behind the two candidates.

The lead of Chandrashekhar coincides with the lead of film star-turned politician Suresh Gopi in the Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency by over 30,000 votes as at the time of writing this. He had contested unsuccessfully twice from Thrissur, one for the Lok Sabha and the other for the state assembly.
