BJP in trouble: old statement by Tirur Satish links party to Kodakara hawala case

Trissur: Former BJP office secretary Tirur Satish’s old statement has come to light, casting a shadow over the BJP as it links party leaders to the Kodakara hawala case. The statement made to the special investigation team earlier, has now come under scrutiny as authorities consider recording Satish’s formal statement.

According to Satish’s earlier testimony, BJP district leaders had arranged accommodations for the suspects involved in the case, allegedly coordinating rooms for them through intermediaries. The statement, which also mentions Satish’s acquaintance with hawala agent Dharmaraja, another figure in the case, indicates that the police found connections between the BJP leaders and individuals involved in the hawala operation.

The case has taken on new urgency, with expectations that police may soon summon BJP leaders for questioning. In an earlier phase of the investigation, high-ranking BJP leaders, including state president K Surendran, were interrogated by the Thrissur Police. BJP leaders, however, are raising concerns about the timing of this revelation, suggesting that it may be tied to Satish’s financial dealings, specifically a loan from Kerala Bank that is allegedly approaching foreclosure. The BJP also claims that Satish may have entered into an arrangement with the CPI(M), with political motives possibly driving the renewed focus on his statement.

With Satish’s testimony reemerging, further developments in the case could have significant implications for the BJP leadership in Kerala as they continue to face questions surrounding the Kodakara black money case.
