Samastha moves SC against dual registration requirement of orphanages

The Supreme Court is expected to hear the petition by Samastha Kerala Jam'iathul Ulama against the order by Kerala government requiring dual registration requirement of orphanages.

The petition asks for the withdrawal of the provision that orphanages registered under the The Orphanages And Other Charitable Homes (Supervision And Control) Act, 1960 should also get registered with Child Welfare Committee.

Samastha also points out that the move is aimed at cancelling the minority status of the institutions.

The SC bench expected to hear the case, consists of Madan B Lokur and Deepak Gupta.
