Special package for Kerala Agricultural University

Thiruvananthapuram: Minister for Agriculture K P Mohanan on Tuesday said that the state government will announce a special financial package to support the Agricultural University in Thrissur.
Mohanan said that the ministry will hold a high-level meeting headed by Chief Minister and Finance Minister to discuss about the debt crisis of the university.
The University is in severe financial crisis with a debt risen to Rs 265 crore. The minister said that the package will be announced with the help of the Union Government.
Meanwhile, the varsity has been facing contempt of court after failing to pay the privileges to retired employees even after the deadline given by the Kerala High Court. The ministry will hold an emergency meeting to decide on this in two weeks time.
