Wonderla Hyderabad fires employee for saying "kill all Muslims"
text_fieldsWonderla Hyderabad has terminated an employee after he made an Islamophobic remark to a group of Muslim visitors, saying, "Maardena musalmano ko (Kill all Muslims)."
In a statement, Wonderla said it deeply regretted the incident and described the employee's remarks as "completely contrary" to the company's values.
The incident came to light after Anas Mirza, who had visited the amusement park with his friends on July 1, uploaded a video on social media.
According to Mirza, the group approached the employee for a photograph, but he declined, saying he only took pictures with children. As the group walked away, he said, "Maardena musalmano ko (Kill all Muslims)."
Mirza and his friends confronted the employee, who denied making the remark in front of the park management.
Wonderla said it has zero tolerance for hate speech or discriminatory behaviour.
"We have zero tolerance for hate speech, discriminatory language, or any form of conduct that targets individuals or communities on the basis of religion, ethnicity, race, gender, or any other protected characteristic," the company said.
It added that the employee had been relieved of his services following an internal inquiry.
"We sincerely regret the distress caused to our guests and reaffirm our commitment to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for everyone who visits our parks," the statement said.
