New Delhi: A Delhi-Mumbai Vistara flight returned to Delhi after an unusual "whistling sound" was heard on the cockpit.

The "whistling sound" came from the right side of the Boeing 737 aircraft cockpit, according to India Today.

The Delhi-Mumbai flight of Vistara airlines later landed safely shortly after takeoff.

The preliminary ground inspection of the flight revealed no structural deficiency.

However, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered a probe into the snag.

DGCA sources said that Vistara B737-800 aircraft VT-TGB was involved in airturnback to Delhi after a whistling sound was heard from the right side in the cockpit and added that Aircraft landed safely.

Vistara, a joint venture of Tata and Singapore Airlines Limited (SIA), said that the pilot decided to return the flight after a technical snag was detected shortly after its take-off.

The airline stated that an alternate aircraft was immediately arranged to fly the passengers to their destination.
