Additional chief engineer (training) S K Nagrani in an official order on October 9, which was later withdrawn, warned that employees who fail to watch the channel will be excluded from periodical safety discussions along with disciplinary action.

S K Nagrani also directed the junior engineer (safety) to create WhatsApp groups for 17 circles and wanted to add all engineers alongside sharing all posts in groups every Friday.

The order stated that the posts in the groups had to be circulated among subordinates and electricity consumers.

A feedback form with column for suggestions or inspiration or learning from contents of channel was also issued along with the order.

Employees had to share motivational videos on the YouTube channel “Jeene Ki Raah Surendra Kumar” run by Junior Engineer Surendra Kumar across all WhatsApp groups.

‘If any employee informs the Assistant Engineer concerned well in advance about his inability to be present before the start of the safety discussion, then in his place another employee, who has heard all the motivational compositions, can be proposed to participate in the safety discussion,’ the order was quoted as stating.

However, Ajmer Discom managing director K P Verma initiated an inquiry regarding the order, and subsequently the order was withdrawn.
