Victory of real ‘Operation Lotus’ over BJP’s fake Hindutva: Shiv Sena on Congress’ win

Mumbai: Calling the BJP’s Hindutva a fake one which has been overturned by the real ‘Operation Lotus’, the Shiv Sena (UBT) termed the victory of the Congress in the Karnataka Assembly as an auspicious sign for the country, besides congratulating the people of the state for defeating Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in a big way.

Through the editorial in party mouthpiece Saamana, Shiv Sena said that Karnataka people have shown the BJP what lies ahead for them in 2024, claiming that the BJP was engaging in creating a rift between Hindus and Muslims as a camouflage against the pervasive corruption, looting, inflation, and unemployment in the state.

The editorial also ridiculed PM Narendra Modi’s repetitive blame on the Congress for insulting him, this time, with a number of 91 times, equalling it with his crying which the people of Karnataka did not pay heed to. The editorial pointed out that if the BJP had won in Karnataka, PM Modi would have taken the credit, but since it had lost, party president J P Nadda would have to take full responsibility for the defeat

The Shiv Sena praised the Congress leadership in Karnataka for staying united despite differences in the party. The editorial said that the Congress was united in Karnataka, and even though there were differences between the leaders, they did not reveal them during the election. The leaders, such as Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah, who aspired to be the chief minister, left everything to the high command and threw themselves into the campaign.

The editorial further said that the Basavaraj Bommai-led BJP government was infamous for corruption, looting, inflation, and unemployment. These were important issues, but instead of talking about them, the BJP and its leaders from Delhi continued to mislead people by creating a rift between Hindus and Muslims.

The campaign by Modi and Shah and their speeches were nothing but political gimmicks. They first started the issue of 'hijab', but failed. As soon as Congress talked about the ban on Bajrang Dal in its manifesto, Modi and others started yelling at Bajrang Bali in the campaign by saying that it is an insult to Bajrang Bali.

Modi launched Bajrang Bali in the campaign and made it happen on the polling day. All this did not have any effect in Karnataka. On the contrary, Bajrang Bali threw the mace at Modi-Shah's scalp and placed the mace on Rahul Gandhi's shoulder. It is clear that the BJP's fake Hindutva did not work in Karnataka," said the editorial.

The Congress also criticised BJP's policy on inflation and the increase in gas cylinder prices. "Women voted for the Congress in Karnataka because inflation and Priyanka-Rahul Gandhi's campaign are more important than Bajrang Bali and hijab," said the editorial.

The Shiv Sena claimed that BJP's Operation Lotus was crushed by the people of Karnataka and most of the 18 MLAs who were part of it and were fielded by the saffron party lost the elections. "Gone are the days of winning elections by creating Operation Lotus, giving threats, campaigning for charity, sending the ED, CBI behind the Opposition. The Karnataka verdict made it clear that the common man can defeat a dictatorship," it said.
