Van driver was beaten up on suspicion of transporting beef

Mathura : Raal village cow vigilantes brutally beat up a 35-year-old pick-up van driver for 'ferrying beef and smuggling cattle' in his vehicle.
Social media users shared videos showing Mohammad Aamir allegedly being beaten with belts and his shirt ripped off on Monday night.
He begs them to stop, but he receives no mercy. He is also abused.
M.P. Singh, the SP (City) of Mathura, stated that cow vigilantes and residents of Raal village in Mathura's Govardhan intercepted the van, which was headed to Sikandrarao in Hathras from Mathura's Govardhan.
Singh said the van was found empty, except for some animal carcasses for which Aamir had a license, during the preliminary investigation.
"The suspects allegedly held the driver hostage and brutally beat him up," he said.
According to the SP, two other men had been beaten up by the public over suspicions they had connections to the van driver. All three men were rescued from the mob and taken to the hospital for treatment, the SP said.
According to doctors, Aamir suffered bruises on his face and shoulder. "He was not seriously injured," doctors said.
Aamir and Vikas Sharma, convener of Gau Raksha Vibhag of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), have both filed FIRs at Jait police station in this connection.
In response to a complaint by Aamir, the police said they have booked 16 identified individuals, including Vikash Sharma and Balram Thakur from the VHP, as well as some unidentified individuals under relevant IPC sections, including 307 (attempt to murder).
An FIR indicates that Aamir was severely beaten by Sharma and Thakur after they spotted animal carcasses being transported to Hathras.
According to Sharma's complaint, local residents of Raal village beat him up along with his associate Balram Thakur over suspicion that the two were involved with Aamir.
According to Sharma's complaint, 14 people were identified and 150 people were unidentified were charged under relevant IPC sections.
It proved futile to try to get in touch with Aamir's family members as their numbers were switched off.
