Ghaziabad: A Muslim youth in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad was allegedly beaten to death after his two-wheeler grazed past a car belonging to a property dealer on Monday, June 29.

Police have arrested Rahul Maavi, alias Pahalwan (25), in connection with the incident, while his alleged associate Anuj Kasana remains absconding. A search operation is underway to trace him.

According to the complaint filed by Zaid’s brother, the victim and his friends were travelling to a swimming pool on Behta Road from Mustafabad at around 3:30 pm when their two-wheeler brushed against a Baleno car.

The complaint stated that a man got out of the car and allegedly slapped Zaid multiple times before forcibly taking him inside the vehicle. The accused then drove him to a nearby property dealing office and allegedly asked Zaid’s two friends to follow them.

When the friends reached the office, they allegedly found Zaid lying motionless on the ground, while one of the accused was repeatedly kicking him.

“One of the friends sprinkled water on his face, but he did not respond. The accused then warned them to take him away or face similar consequences,” the complaint stated, according to a report in Hindustan Times.

Zaid’s friends also alleged that the accused threatened them, saying, “Take him away, or you’ll end up the same way.”

Zaid was later taken to a hospital in Delhi, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Speaking to the media, Surendra Nath Tiwari, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rural, confirmed the incident and said a first information report (FIR) had been registered based on the family’s written complaint.

“The suspects allegedly assaulted him and took him to their office around 400 metres from the spot. Teams have been formed to trace the absconding accused,” Tiwari said, adding that further legal proceedings were underway.

According to the police officer, no major visible external injuries were found on Zaid’s body. However, he said a mark was noticed on the victim’s throat.

A case has been registered at the Loni Border police station under Sections 103(1) (murder) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police are awaiting the post-mortem report and are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas as part of the investigation.
