UP woman finds missing husband after 8 years through Instagram reel

In Hardoi, a woman who had been searching for her missing husband since 2018 found him eight years later in an Instagram reel, where he was seen with another woman.

According to the police, the missing man, identified as 32-year-old Jitendra Kumar alias Babloo, was traced to Ludhiana, where he had allegedly remarried. Authorities stated that they received information through social media after the wife spotted him in a video and reported it. Acting on this lead, police launched an inquiry, eventually locating Jitendra and taking him into custody.

Officials confirmed that the woman has lodged a complaint, and a case has been registered against Jitendra under Section 82(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with bigamy. Hardoi Circle Officer Santosh Kumar Singh stated that the investigation revealed Jitendra had married another woman in Ludhiana and that he is currently in police custody.

According to police, the investigation revealed that the complainant married Jitendra, a native of Hardoi, in 2017, and the couple welcomed a son the following year, Indian Express reported.

However, in April 2018, Jitendra mysteriously disappeared. Despite extensive searches by his family, he could not be located, leading his father to file a missing person’s complaint at the Sandila police station. For years, there was no trace of him until a recent breakthrough.

Police stated that they recorded the wife’s statement, in which she explained how she recently came across a reel on social media and was shocked to recognise her missing husband in it.

Disturbed by the discovery, she began contacting people close to Jitendra and his family to confirm her suspicion. During her inquiries, she reportedly learned that Jitendra had been living in Ludhiana for several years and had allegedly remarried there.
