Chennai: Udhayanidhi Stalin, DMK's youth wing leader and son of Chief Minister M.K.Stalin, will be sworn in as a minister in the cabinet of his father on December 14.

An official communication from the Tamil Nadu Rajbhavan stated that the swearing in will take place at 9.30 am at the Durbar Hall, Rajbhavan.

Udhayanidhi Stali Stalin is a legislator from Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni constituency in the Tamil Nadu Assembly.

Besides being a politician, he is also a movie actor and a producer. He runs Red Giants, a film production company that controls significant share of business in South India.

The DMK scion is likely to get the portfolio of programme implementation, Rural development and Youth, Sports Affairs.

The Tamil Nadu government is on a major development in Sports activities with sports hubs coming up across the state.

"Numerous sports-related development projects have already been announced by us. Plus, in the state, 234 sports complexes are being built, and Udhayanidhi will visit each one. He will travel from Nagapattinam to Krishnagiri, and Tiruvallur to Kanyakumari. He will lead all the celebrations and sporting events like Jallikattu during the Pongal celebrations," a senior DMK Minister said.

Sources in the party said that the young leader was supposed to join the Cabinet during the swearing-in of the government in May 2021 but could not, due to some prior commitments in film industry.

Similarly, TN Chief minister MK Stalin also entered the Cabinet under his father M. Karunanidhi first as a minister but later promoted as a deputy chief minister in 2009-2011 period.
