Mumbai (Maharashtra): Police in Mumbai are investigating details of hoardings of former chief minister Uddhav Thackery with Mughal emperor Aurangazeb’s image in the background that appeared in Mahim area of the city, NDTV reported

There was in the hoardings the image of Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi chief Prakash Ambedkar, police said on Thursday.

‘Posters were put up at night, no information yet on who put them up. It has been removed now. No complaint received so far,’ Mumbai Police reportedly said.

Deepak Kesarkar, Maharashtra Minister and Shiv Sena leader, said Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj would not forgive those who compromise with Hindutva.

‘Uddhav Thackeray's new love for Aurangzeb can be seen. Those who're compromising with Hindutva, won't be forgiven by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj," Kesarkar was quoted as saying.

Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis on June 19 said national Muslims did not recognize the Mughal emperor as their ruler, adding that no Muslim in India is a descendant of Aurangzeb.

Fadnavis said that Muslims respect Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, adding he said ‘Our king is only Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. We cannot have another king. Muslims in India are not descendants of Aurangzeb. Aurangzeb and his clan came from outside.’

After some youths reportedly made some objectionable social media posts with reference to Aurangzeb and Tipu Sultan on June 8, tension prevailed in Kolhapur area of Maharashtra.
