Uddhav Thackeray meets Arvind Kejriwal, discusses 'situation in the country'
text_fieldsMumbai: Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray met with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in Mumbai on Friday to discuss the "situation in the country".
Following a courtesy call, Kejriwal, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, and AAPs Raghav Chadha and Sanjay Singh came to Thackeray's home Matoshri. The Shiv Sena leader said they discussed what they can do to make India stronger. "We all have only one ideology, and that is how to make the country stronger."
Thackeray's Shiv Sena is an ally of the Congress in Maharashtra. But, Congress is AAP's rival in Punjab and Delhi. No official confirmation about an alliance was made after the meeting.
MLA Aaditya Thackeray took to Twitter to share the photos of the meeting and wrote: "Thank you Arvind Kejriwal ji for accepting our humble invite for a cup of tea at Matoshri and coming along with Bhagwant Mann ji and MPs Sanjay Singh ji and Raghav Chadha today."
Kejriwal said they discussed the situation in the country. "Young people are not getting jobs. They are stumbling from door to door. Inflation has eaten into people's income, yet income is not increasing, only expenses are rising. We also learned a lot from Uddhav Thackeray's handling of the pandemic in Mumbai and used the same strategy in Delhi," said the AAP chief.
After losing the Shiv Sena name and party symbol to the Shinde faction, Thackeray now heads the Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray group and the flaming torch symbol.
"There is only one party in India which thinks of elections 24X7. We are not that party. There are many issues in front of us like the farmers and unemployment. We will discuss the election when the election comes," he said when asked about a possible alliance. "Uddhavji's party has been stolen -- the name, the symbol, everything. But I want to say only one thing: his father was a sher and he is sher ka beta. I am confident that he will get justice from the Supreme Court and will sweep the coming elections as people's support is with him," he added.
