Udaipur killers have Pakistan links: police say

Udaipur: Rajasthan Minister for Home Rajendra Singh Yadav said Wednesday that Ghouse Mohammad, one of the two men involved in the murder of Kanhaiya Lal of Udaipur, spent 45 days Karachi in 2014 and made phone calls to Pakistan for the last 2-3 years.
Ghouse, according to Director General of Police M L Lather, visited the office of a Sunni Islamic proselytizing group Dawat-e-Islami in Karachi, which was founded by Muhammad Ilyas Attar Qadri in 1981 in Pakistan, Indian Express reported.
Having spent more than a month in Karachi, Ghouse in 2018-19 kicked about in Arab countries as well as visiting Nepal a few times, the minister said, adding Ghouse kept calling up 8-10 phone numbers in Pakistan.
The questioning of Ghouse and Riyaz revealed their links to Dawat-e-Islami, which has the stated the mission of preaching religious practices and propagating the sect, according to the report. They don't have any such office in Rajasthan but keeps an office in Kanpur, and head offices in Mumbai and Delhi, DGP said.
Alongside the arrest of the two main accused police on Wednesday began questioning four others allegedly involved in the murder, according to the report.
Mohammad Riyaz, one of the two main accused, used to be a welder while Ghouse kept menial jobs; either of them has no criminal history so far, according to Lather.
A more shocking report by India Today sourcing out police said the two accused in the Udaipur tailor's murder case have links to proscribed terror outfit ISIS and were part of a conspiracy to carry out serial blasts in Jaipur on March 30.
Further the report said that they had links through Pakistan-based Dawat-e-Islami to Al-sufa, a remote sleeper organisation of ISIS.
One of the two accused, Mohammad Riyaz "Attari" was the head of Al-sufa in Udaipur. He was also associated with ISIS terrorist Mujeeb, who was arrested from Tonk earlier, the report said.
Meanwhile, The NIA on Wednesday re-registered the FIR in the murder case adding more charges.
Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor in Udaipur, was hacked to death by two men, Mohammad Riyaz and Ghouse Mohammad, for allegedly sharing remarks made by BJP's Nupur Sharma on the Prophet.
